Today I want to share a fun pocket page Scrapbooking trick with you all! I do monthly pocket page scrapbooking in my 9x12 album and one thing I love to do is decorate the outside pocket sleeves- I even make layouts over the pocket pages too!
So in today's post I will share some pictures and tips on how you can think outside the pocket page too!
Before we begin, my number one go to glue for doing this is the Tombow Xtreme Adhesive. This adhesive is super strong and you can trust that nothing you add to the pocket sleeve will fall off over time- it's that good! Other great glues you can use are the Tombow Mono Aqua Liquid Glue or the Tombow Mono Multi Glue.
so let's take a look at some examples!
In this first example, I added the photos on the inside page protect but all the decorative embellishments are on the outside!
This adds an interactive element to your albums--while you're flipping through the album you can stop and actually FEEL the page and what you put on it which creates a tactile experience!
I just love the look and feel it gives to my pages. It's also a great way to use up those bigger die cuts or ephemera you have in your stash!
When using embellishments that are more dimensional, like these Any Tangerine pieces, it's best to add them to the top of the page protector. Otherwise, they will make the page buckle and your photos/journaling cards won't sit flat if placed inside the pocket.
You can also add smaller embellishments like these glitter alphabet stickers using the Xtreme Adhesive to the front of your pocket pages!
In this next example, I created a whole little layout that spans over 2 pockets on this page! This time I added the heart pattern paper on the inside pockets and all the stickers and photo of my mom and I on the top! Here's a closer look:
I absolutely love how this little layout turned out! And it's gives my album a break form all the same page configurations.
And my last tip, if you have die cuts that are embossed or have texture, it'll be a waste to put them in a pocket where you can't appreciate it. This middle floral piece is the perfect example, instead of adding it to the inside as my filler card, I used the Xtreme Adhesive to add it to the top of the pocket!
I hope you enjoyed this pocket page scrapbooking tips and tricks post. I hope to have inspired you to try something new in your memory keeping albums!
I know it's been forever and a day since I updated this blog but I have big plans coming soon and there will be more about that at a later date.
This week we are celebrating National Scrapbook day and I have partnered up with Tombow USA, Amy Tangerine, and DCWV to create and share fun projects all week long.
Today I want to share my first ever bullet journal and how I'm making it to fit my own needs.
Recently, I actively started a self care routine of praying, journaling, meditating, and stuff in between. So I decided to create a bullet journal in an Amy Tangerine traveler's notebook to keep track of my daily habits, inspirational quotes, monthly expenses and so much more!
Let's start with how I altered my traveler's notebook!
I then covered the back with this pretty blue pattern paper from DCWV's Samantha Rosa paper pad.
To further decorate I decided to add a title to the front cover using more paper from the Samantha Rose paper pad and clear stickers from Amy Tangerine's Oh Happy Live collection.
Inside Pages
As I mentioned earlier, this is my self care bullet journal, a place for me to keep up with my faith, inspiration, and daily good habits. Here are some of the pages I prepped.
I created a little "this book belongs to" section on the first page using the black frame sticker from Amy Tangerine and I wrote out my name using the Tombow Dual Brush Pen color 755-Rubine Red.
I created pages for positivity including a place for journaling about confidence builders (different activities I can do), daily mantras, and affirmations. I decorated the pages with Amy Tangerine stickers and I just love how fly those sunnies look!
I also made a faith inspiration page with strong and motivational quotes about God. I am on a faith journey and these pages are perfect for when I need a pick me up and encouragement from God.
I decorated with some washi tape, Amy Tangerine stickers, and I doodled some borders too!
Lastly I want to share my daily habit tracker. I know the lines aren't perfect but this was my first time creating a tracker chart and I'm ok with it. My plan it to add a dot to each habit I complete every day in May.
I used the Tombow MONO drawing pencil to sketch out my lines before I went over them with a black pen. I later erased my lines using the Tombow jumbo MONO eraser because it covers more surface for quicker erasing.
I wrote down my daily habits and left some room for extras. I also left a place to journal named "notes and observations". Some of my daily habits are prayer, journaling, meditating, chores, exercise, listening to podcasts, and My Fitness Pal. What are some of your positive self care habits? I'd love to add a few more to my list ;)
Do you bullet journal? I'd love to see your journals for more inspiration and if you also have one for self care please share!
Today I am celebrating my favourite holiday with a design team application for Tombow's New DT for 2016. *wish me luck* Today is the last day to enter and if you're interested check out their blog for more info HERE
Here is a little more about me:
My name is Serena Bee I am 27 and I am a Youtube Crafter. (You can view my channel here). I've been crafty full time as I like to call it for the last 5 years and I have loved every minute of it. Crafting is more than just a hobby for me. It's a way of life and I would love to make it my career one day.
PROJECT #1
For my first project I would like to share the pocket letter tutorial I made back in August for my guest design team spot on the Tombow blog! This project showcases some different techniques and projects I enjoy creating. For example, it showcases my skill and love for creating mixed media projects, ATCs, and art journaling through the watercolour backgrounds created. I also used some of my handmade DIY cupcake liner embellishmentsto decorate the middle shaker pocket and also the decorative picks I created using flower and donut dies. I also showcase my coloring of these images.
Moreover, I created my own glitter dots using the Tombow adhesive dots and glitter. I then sealed these dots using the Tombow Mono Aqua liquid glue, which is my favorite go to glue this past year!
I have a step by step video tutorial where I go through how I made this pocket letter from coloring the images using the Tombow Dual Brush Pens- Bright Paletteto the watercolored background using the same pens and the Tombow Blending Kit. Click this video below to watch my tutorial.
Here is a closer look at my layering and DIY cupcake liner embellishment.
PROJECT #2
I am a paper crafter at heart, however, one of my other passions is creating altered projects or easy and affordable DIY home decor projects. For my next project I would like to share a more recent item I made for this Halloween season. I created an altered witch cauldron wall hanging decor piece. Although I used hot glue to adhere most of the floral picks and sprays I did useTombow Mono Aqua liquid glue to adhere all the glitter used on the "smell my feet" sign.
I also have a step by step video tutorial for this project. You can watch it down below.
Basically I started off with trimming the floral picks and sprays down to the size I needed and began adhering them to the back side of the cauldron sign using a hot glue gun.
Once all the picks were secured to the back of the sign, I then began working on the "smell my feet" wood piece. At first I gessoed the wood piece in order to paint it with orange paint. However, I wasn't achieving the look I wanted so I moved on to using an orange Sharpe oil-based paint pen to color the sign. Once that dried, I began adding a layer of glue with theTombow Mono Aqua liquid glueand added fine orange glitter and then later a chunky orange glitter on the top.
Next, it was time to add the second cauldron piece to the backside in order to hide all the glue and picks we adhered down. This gave the sign a more professional and cleaner look and allows you to hang the sign up on the wall if you chose to do so.
Next it was time to decorate the front of the cauldron, I started by adhering a black and white polka dot ribbon with some hot glue. Next I made a bow using the same ribbon and placed that on the left hand side of the cauldron. For a finishing touch, I decided to add a jack-o-lantern resin embellishment piece in the center of the bow. Lastly, it was time to add the last finishing touch, the "smell my feet" piece. Once that was adhered with hot glue the project was complete. This is an easy and quick project anyone could do.

PROJECT #3
For this last project I want to share a Disney mini album I created. For this album I wanted to do a classic black and white themed album mixed in with pops of colors such as pink, red, and gold.
I just love layering on projects!
This is a paper bag envelope mini album which means there are pockets on the sides with more room for photos and journaling. I also used myTombow Xtreme glueand Tombow Stamp Runner adhesive to adhere down the embellishments and also my Mono Aqua Glue through out this whole album.
I also have a video where I show this album in its entirety. This is the first video share I found on Youtube that shows a paper bag mini made using the Cinch for it's binding. I had plans of having this mini as a tutorial, however, I sadly deleted the footage I had filmed.
There are so many more project I wish to share. I also enjoy creating scrapbook layouts, cards, pages in my Midori travelers notebook, art journaling, DIYs, and so much more! But for now I hope I showcased my range, creativity and style within these 3 projects.
Thank you Tombow for stopping by and checking out my application. Having the chance to be a part of the new 2016 Design Team would mean the world to me.
