PunkyouGirl Challenge Blog DT Application

Today's blog post is going to be different. I am honored to announce that I've been approached by a recent start up challenge blog called PunkyouGirl. check out the blog here This challenge blog is right up my alley because it only deals with dark art, creepy, fantasy, Gothic and steampunk sort of projects. yay! So Here is my application to join their Design Team!

Brief Bio about Moi:

My name is Serena and I'm 25. I've always been crafty but had put it on hold when I went to cegep and university. But during my last year of university my love for crafting and scrapbooking re-emerged. I found myself on YouTube watching videos and learning new techniques instead of studying for finals hehe no worries, I still got good grades :) but I was just so enthralled with the underground scrapbook world I had just discovered that I quickly became obsessed. This was 3 years ago and since then I've developed my craft. I am mainly a card-maker, smash-booker and recently I've been doing a lot of mixed media and art journaling.  My style is always evolving as I discover new projects and ideas I want to make. But I would say I am drawn to the dark side of crafting. When I first discovered the real scrapbooking world I noticed that everything was cutesy and main-stream stuff, which is totally fine, I do love some Dear Lizzy and Echo Park, but I just never knew there were stamp companies out there that made only dark or even Gothic stamps. That's when I discovered The Octopode Factory and Stampotique Originals. I honestly burst with excitement because I had finally found companies that spoke to my heart and that I knew I would fall in love with in an instant. These various designers, companies, artists, and challenge blogs  have finally allowed myself to make what I truly love. I must admit I still love the cutesy and whimsical and you will definitely see that in my work along with bright happy colors,  I think everyone has different sides to their character and in result their art.  So enough about me let's get onto the next part.

Design Teams:

I am not part of any design teams as of yet :( but it has been a dream and a goal of mine to belong to a design team.  Just this week I thought about how I wanted to be part of a team and then poof, I get a comment on my blog from Jacki, the owner of PunkyouGirl, to participate in a design team call!! Yay! My dreams have been answered... well I still have to apply for it ;) but just being given this great opportunity is a wonderful step in the right direction. I want to get more involved in the crafting world, I want people to watch my YouTube videos and read my blog and be inspired! I want to craft all day!!  And I want to be part of PunkyouGirl's Design team!

Three Favorite Makes:

Now this part is a little tough(how can I pick just 3). I've recently only been making art journal pages so that is what I have to show.

(There is many more where that came from!)

In terms of what I can bring to PunkyouGirl as a design team member; I can definitely meet all of the requirements of a DT member and more.  I will provide you and our audience with fun, quirky, and dark tutorials, art journal pages, mixed media art, alter books and altered projects, smash-book pages, and cards. As well as YouTube videos to help promote the PunkyouGirl  blog and the monthly challenges. So with that being said... pick me :) hehe

Thanks for reading,

Serena

  2. Serena i love all three of your projects. Good luck with Jacki's DT call.
If you lean towards the darker side of crafting there are a few challenges and stamp companies out there. There is also a forum http://smearedandsmudged.ning.com/ .... we're all a little weird but friendly.... and have a list of the challenges that cater for our kind of art.
    Again good luck BDx
